Holden’s family writes: “Holden is a sweet, adorable, ball of orange fluff. She spends her days sleeping in the sun and her nights chirping around the house hunting bugs. She never puts her tale down and always waves it in the motion I call a “beauty queen wave.” She is also obsessed with laying on top of (or inside!) my backpack, so I felt it was fitting that she get one in her outfit.”
I present you a new level of cat journalism with this series called, “The Cat Files.” On July 17th, 2014, I had lunch at Ruby’s BBQ near UT Austin and I met a white cat with a black nose. I have met this cat once before at Spiderhouse, so I guess it’s the neighborhood cat. If you’re in the area, you might be able to spot this cutie! You may not believe me, but I remember almost every cat I’ve met. ALMOST. For example, this is my friend’s cat named, “Kitty,” and this is a cat named, “Lucky” that I met on a couch surfing road trip. I document a lot of my cat encounters. Stay tuned for more cat crossings!

I have multiple cats and knowing how much they’ve individually eaten is a challenge. Sometimes Parker will sit in front of Khloe’s bowl while he is eating and block her from being able to eat! She will pretend to drink water and then wait for him to move. Sometimes she loses interest and just walks away. He’s kind of a fatty on a patty, while Khloe hardly weighs like anything!
Bistro has created a solution to these types of problems. They extended face recognition technology to help cat owners track their cats’ appetite and weight change. Is it the cat revolution?
They have reached their indiegogo goals and you can preorder it!
We’re back! This time we are featuring my other cat, Khloe! She’s incredibly sassy and very playful. She loves to chirp at the birds and run around the house, begging everyone to play. Rainbow tights and a glitter bow is incredibly fitting for her. She’s sporting furry ankle boots, because quite frankly, she has fat paws.

This weekend I had the pleasure of visiting the Blanton Museum’s latest exhibit, “In the Company of Cats & Dogs.” It is open till September 21st, so hurry and check it out if you’re interested in seeing some fancy cat paintings, photography, manuscripts and even the first published book of Alice in Wonderland! It is so humbling to peruse the art world’s fascination with our beloved pets in almost every culture, spanning from Egyptian times up until now. Who knew I’d be in an art museum seeing Maru on the wall and humming along to Nyan Cat in a packed auditorium!?
For some reason the Blanton staff was adamant that these could not be posted from my blog (even though we aren’t commercial at all), so they are taken from my own personal flickr page. Hop on over if you want to check out more photos!
Welcome to the first Designer Cat Series post, featuring my very own Parker! We shall be curating outfits, inspired by cats, whether it be “real,” cats or fictional. Imagine if your cat was a person, what would he or she wear? Parker is a badass kitty who gives no shits. He’s quirky and aloof; definitely capable of wearing leather pants and travels lightly.
